Tools for green and digital transition

Podillia Fashion Cluster was actively involved in this landmark event. Firstly, the experience of implementing the SURE stress resistance strategy at the cluster level. Secondly, as a signatory of the Industry 5.0 Manifesto, which shapes the European agenda in Ukraine. |
On July 14, Kyiv hosted a landmark event – the first conference in Ukraine on Industry 5.0. The event was held within the framework of the Swiss-Ukrainian project “Strengthening MSMEs’ Business Associations in Ukraine (Phase II)”, implemented by the United Nations Development Program in Ukraine (UNDP) in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine and with the support of the Swiss government.
General context of the Conference
The context of the conference was determined by several factors.
- First, the overall goal was to involve a wide range of existing Industry 4.0 stakeholders in the 5.0 topic. These include industrial enterprises, developers, integrators, product manufacturers, universities, and business associations from these categories. Looking ahead, we note that more than 10 thousand online engagements and 350 registrations (online and offline) are a good indicator that meets the goal.
The second factor and task were to fit into the context of European I5.0 with Ukrainian realities, which seemed to be quite a challenge. Most of the country’s enterprises are at the 3.0 level, and there are a tiny number of industries that are engaged in digital transformation processes (4.0). It is also difficult to talk about any government policies to support smart industries, because they exist only on paper. Therefore, one of the most important challenges that the organizers considered was who to talk to and what to talk about in the context of 5.0.
Finally, the third factor that always accompanies complex topics is how to convey this complexity in a simpler, clearer way and still find common ground.
APPAU did a lot of preliminary work, breaking down complex 5.0 topics into “simple” parts, which were methodically worked out before the conference at 5 online meetings, webinars, and in a series of publications.
The “cherry on top” of this cake was the signing of the Industry 5.0 Manifesto, which was also previously developed by the UCA working expert group.
Signing of the Industry 5.0 memorandum
The signing of the Manifesto on the Transition to Industry 5.0 was one of the key events of the conference on July 14.
36 organizations (including 25 clusters, 5 universities, regional development agencies, and civil society organizations) declared their readiness to adhere to the principles of:
• Formulating further strategies and development plans
• Work on post-war reconstruction projects.
• Restoring and developing production in the new industrial paradigm of Industry 5.0, etc.

The principles of Industry 5.0 are changing the way businesses approach and are much better balancing and improving their response to the challenges of social, environmental and economic development.
The signing of the Manifesto is a significant event not only for the UCA or APPAU, but also for all sectors and communities of industrial hi-tech.
We started in a similar way in 2016, when the national movement Industry 4.0 in Ukraine was launched (based on the 4.0 Charter), and in 2019, when the Industry 4Ukraine platform was created and also had its own Manifesto.
The significant difference this time is the significant dominance of Ukrainian clusters, their much greater consolidation among themselves and with the expert community.
This network is becoming a real market force capable of implementing the slogans of smart industries – and this is our hope
